Purpose: Introduce bold, new, Latino-authentic nut flavors textures to appeal to U.S. Latinos. Solution: Create designs for varying levels of U.S. Latino acculturation, while also including a modern version with universal, mass market appeal. Packages are color coded according to respective fruit flavors in bold, bright hues signifying the product’s spicy twist.
  • Hispanic package design and branding for Manzanita Sol. Hispanic package design and branding for Manzanita Sol a Mexican soft drinks owned by PepsiCo. Although Manzanita Sol is a top -selling carbonated soda in Mexico and has become a cult brand in the US, many of the brand's most valuable equities had eroded over time.
  • Project: Can design for 4 flavors of licuados (milk-based smoothie-like beverage) and accompanying promotion, merchandising and P.O.P.   Solution: Various designs  were created to appeal to differently acculturated audiences. The common theme, used to emphasize the unique and succulent flavors, is “This is not your grandmother’s licuados.” Spanglish language is cleverly used to appeal specifically to the target audience.

  • Company: Quaker Oats Company.  Project: Pancake mix package update.  Solution: Retain the brand equity/look that consumers know, while making subtle cosmetic enhancements to create a more user-friendly package. Bugs on the front panel direct attention to the new recipes and the product’s long-standing heritage (year-of-origin). The back panel is better organized to first indicate traditional pancake instructions and then follow-up with  new and easy recipes for lunch and dinner meals.

Solution: Feature a tantalizing photographic image of the product as used in ceviche (a popular Latin seafood dish) to showcase an appetizing example of how the imitation crab meat can be used.  Outcome: After a successful Walmart product test in a few designated markets, it is now available in all Latino Walmart stores.
