I like the oval shape, what do you all think about that? Its actually a hand built piece. I normally prefer wheelthrowing my porcelain, but in order to get it to be oval, I got all brave and tried something new. The whale is sgraffito through underglaze and then I finished it up with golden ships. ....... ceramicdesign
  • Noticing 13: violenceriots.questions? buying?contact the makerIts amazing that the yellow vest protests in France are showing no signs of abating, with more protests planned for this weekend, including at Charles De Gaulle Airport. I make work that responds to whats going on in the world and my current show HIGH VIS is a direct response to these protests, and a continuation of my fascination with protests, which started with the Arab Spring in 2012.... Ive been particularly interested in how people define themselves when protesting, from painting their faces in national colours, to wearing particular colours as markers of belonging. In the yellow vests case its high vis vests that everyone must carry in their cars in case of emergency. Who knows what the markers of the next protest somewhere in the world will be? Maybe it will be orange vests? I await with interest, ready to respond.... ..Image by: australianceramicsporcelain
