Inside the tunnel

 walking under a ‘sky filled with red stars’

all-blue effect: the impression of passing under an undulating sea is the epitome of a calming sensa

brighter colors like red and orange translate into dynamism, and offer a playful world for children

changing hues: paler colors create a different ambiance, where visitors are overtaken by a sense of

outside the light tunnel

  illumination at night adds a new dimension to the piece

the red gradient stands out in its neutral surroundings

…and its evolution to the present day

this combination of references aims to convey the sharp clarity of indian roots in traditional desig

…while the outer panels echo the colonial character of the large gateway at the entrance to the site

the inner panels resonate an amalgamation of contemporary design…

the dimensions of the tunnel and density of the ‘mist’ is enhanced by a mirror at its end

the sculpture is comprised of a cube made of translucent layers of fish-net

the composition follows the india story’s 2016 theme of ‘re-love, revive and reinvent’

the installation was created for the kolkata chapter of india’s national design festival ‘the india
